Kadaster NL, LGLN and GEObasis.NRW want to gain experience with publishing their large scale topographic data both according to the INSPIRE data specifications and the ExM data specifications; this should enable the mapping agencies to prepare for their future operational solutions.
Targeting the ExM specifications from ESDIN instead of "just" the INSPIRE data specifications allows to investigate how existing topographic data could be published in conformance with INSPIRE and - at the same time - as value-added products with additional content to meet the needs of cross-border SDI users.
This page describes information about a spatial dataset with administrative units from Lower Saxony (Niedersachsen). The data is provided via a OGC Web Feature Service and a OGC Web Map Service. The data source is the ATKIS Basis-DLM dataset and the data is transformed to conform to the INSPIRE-based ExM application schema developed by the ESDIN project.
This activity is part of a X-border-GDI pilot project to make large scale topographic data available according to INSPIRE principles in the X-border-GDI region.

The WMS implements the INSPIRE default styles (which are not really useful), plus in the AU:AdministrativeUnit layer also another style that shows the boundaries (state, county and municipality borders with different symbols and depending on the scale) and in larger scales also the name of the municipality. This is the style shown in the simple map below. The map shows also the administrative units from the corresponding WMS in the Netherlands.
To reach the prototyp with full functinality click on the map below. There you can get information of a feature shown in the map, by clicking on the map and details of the the identified features will be shown. The information includes all information from the INSPITE/ExM model including the nil values.
The background map uses the OSM basic WMS from the WhereGroup.
